Why us
Rooted in experience, guided by curiosity
With over 30 years’ experience helping organisations improve how they work, we know that lasting change starts with curiosity – a willingness to see how things really happen, not just how they appear on paper. By observing real workflows, we uncover the small shifts that make the biggest difference.
Rooted in Lean Thinking, our approach moves the focus from individuals to the systems they work within – creating space for learning, collaboration and continuous improvement that builds lasting value for customers, employees and the business. Each step forward adds clarity, confidence and strength that endures long after the project ends.

Tailored, not templated
No two organisations are the same – and neither are their processes. We start by listening, building trust with your teams, and designing change around how your business really works. Every deliverable is co-created with – and for – your people.

End-to-end integration
From discovery to delivery, we’re your end-to-end partner. Whether preparing for a system rollout, standardising operations or scaling your business, we stay with you from early mapping through SOPs, training and full change enablement – no gaps to bridge.

Smart, friendly people
We’re technically skilled and highly experienced – but above all, we’re good, grounded people to work with. We keep things clear and jargon-free, saying what needs to be said with honesty and kindness. Blame has no place in our ethos.
Our story
Where it all began

In 1993, our founder, launched GBC Europe – an electronics manufacturing company specialising in miniature CCTV cameras. Working closely with Korean suppliers, the business developed PCB-based camera systems, designed custom housings and carried out final assembly in the UK. From the outset, it became clear: strong processes and effective training were essential to delivering consistent quality at speed.
Every improvement required refining and re-documenting the workflow, then upskilling the team to match. That commitment to iteration, grounded in real-world operations, became the mindset that would later evolve into As it is.
The project that launched As it is

Fast forward to 2020. The challenge was new – but the principles stayed the same. As it is emerged from Digital Flow, an innovation project for SCS Railways, the joint venture delivering the London tunnels for HS2. The task: simplify and accelerate a Design Review and Assurance process spread across 18 spreadsheets and five disconnected systems.
Working with engineers, designers and assurance leads, we created an integrated digital workflow that replaced spreadsheets entirely. Review times fell from 19 weeks to 12 – unlocking a projected £150m in programme savings and establishing the foundation for what As it is would become.
The journey continues

Today, As it is brings together the rigour of manufacturing and the power of digital transformation to help organisations map, optimise and embed the processes that unlock performance. Whether scaling operations, standardising ways of working or preparing for new systems, we support every stage with clarity and care.
From process maps and Standard Operating Procedures to training modules and digital adoption support, we create sustainable change grounded in practicality. The journey that began on factory floors and in rail tunnels now continues in boardrooms and transformation programmes across different industries.
